Properties impacted by STC Debbie undergo six-month assessment
19 Oct 2017
More than half of the properties assessed are now recovered while restoration works continue on the remaining 745 homes that will be reassessed for damage at the start of 2018.
The Damage Assessment and Reconstruction Monitoring System (DARMSys) visits were undertaken in Mackay, Whitsunday, Isaac, Rockhampton, Livingstone, Logan, Scenic Rim and the Gold Coast council areas to capture progress of housing reconstruction since STC Debbie crossed the Queensland coast on 28 March 2017.
QRA staff joined local councils and Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services recovery teams to complete the assessments that followed initial impact assessments and a three-month assessment in July 2017.
Since QRA introduced DARMSys in May 2011, over 47,000 reconstruction monitoring assessments have been conducted in the aftermath of 14 natural disasters. More information on DARMsys is available here.
